A single-page event site for a Fourth of July sandcastle contest on Delray Beach — built to inform, drive team registrations, and collect sponsorships, all in one clean scroll.

The Project

Star Spangled Sandcastles is a community sandcastle-building contest held on Atlantic Avenue Beach in Delray Beach, Florida, timed for July 4th and tied to America250 — the nation’s Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Organized in partnership with Kiwanis, the Rotary Club of Delray Beach, and the City of Delray Beach, the event benefits a local beach-cleanup nonprofit, The Beach Keepers.

The organizers came to us needing a website that could do three jobs at once: explain the event and its rules clearly, turn interested families and companies into registered teams, and give sponsors an easy way to commit and pay — all before a hard, immovable deadline: the Fourth of July.

What We Built

We designed and built a custom single-page website on WordPress, structured as one smooth scroll that walks visitors from the hook straight through to sign-up. Rather than scatter information across multiple pages, everything a participant or sponsor needs lives on a single, fast-loading page — the right approach for an event site where the goal is to keep momentum from “this looks fun” to “we’re in.”

The design leans into a patriotic, coastal feel suited to a Fourth of July beach event, complete with America250 branding to tie it to the national celebration. It’s bright, energetic, and family-friendly — matching the spirit of the contest itself.

Built-In Registration & Payments

The core of the build is conversion. We integrated Square checkout directly into the site so teams can register and pay their entry fee in a few clicks — with separate categories for Family & Non-Profit teams and Corporate & Friend groups, each at its own price point. The same seamless checkout flow powers the event’s tiered sponsorship program, letting businesses choose a sponsorship level and pay securely on the spot.

By handling both registrations and sponsorships through integrated checkout, the site removes the friction of back-and-forth emails and manual invoicing — important for a volunteer-run civic event working against a fixed calendar.

Clear Rules, Easy Sponsors

Event sites live or die on clarity, so we gave the contest rules — timing, plot sizes, materials, team limits, judging criteria — a clean, scannable layout that answers questions before they’re asked. The sponsorship section presents each tier and its benefits side by side, making it simple for a local business to see exactly what their support buys and to sign on.

The Result

Star Spangled Sandcastles launched as a polished, single-purpose campaign site that gives a community event a professional home online — informing participants, collecting registrations and sponsorship dollars, and proudly representing Delray Beach’s place in the nationwide America250 celebration. It’s a great example of how a focused, well-built single-page site can carry an entire event from announcement to sold-out beach.
