Mosquito Corp is Westchester’s trusted mosquito and tick defense company, serving residential and commercial customers across New Rochelle, Scarsdale, White Plains, Larchmont, Harrison, and the surrounding area. They had an existing site that was functional — but it wasn’t telling their story, converting visitors, or keeping up with the quality of service they deliver. It was time for a full rebuild.
A Fully Custom WordPress Theme — Built From Scratch
We don’t use page builders. We don’t drop a pre-made theme and call it a day. Every site we build at 914Digital is a custom WordPress theme written from the ground up — clean code, no bloat, built specifically for the client.
For Mosquito Corp, that meant a custom theme we called NineOneFour26, built on WordPress and Bootstrap 5 with a fully hand-coded stylesheet. No Elementor. No Divi. Just fast, clean, maintainable code that the client owns completely.
Design Decisions That Matter
The visual direction was intentional from the start. The site needed to feel premium and trustworthy — the kind of company you feel confident calling to protect your family. Here’s what we built:
Fixed Transparent Navbar with Scroll Transition — The navigation floats over the hero image as a frosted glass pill, then transitions to a solid white bar as the user scrolls. No per-template hacks — a single .scrolled class toggled by a lightweight JavaScript scroll listener handles it across every page.
Full Screen Hero with ACF Fields — The homepage hero uses the WordPress featured image as a full-viewport background with a dark gradient overlay. All copy — teaser, heading, subheading, and CTA button — is managed through Advanced Custom Fields so the client can update everything without touching code.
Slide-Out Mobile Menu — Instead of the standard Bootstrap collapse menu, we built a custom slide-in panel from the right with a dark overlay, call/text options, and a Pay Now button. Agency-level mobile UX without a plugin.
Services Loop with Custom Post Type — Services are managed as a custom post type with a custom taxonomy for service categories. The homepage pulls the top three, the services page loops all of them alphabetically, and each service has its own single template with a sticky sidebar navigation.
Testimonials Carousel — An ACF repeater field feeds a Bootstrap carousel with star ratings, customer names, locations, and avatar initials. Clean, maintainable, and easy for the client to update.
Gravity Forms — Styled to Match — The contact form and referral form are both Gravity Forms with full custom CSS styling — rounded inputs, lime green focus states, and a custom submit button that matches the site’s brand. We also stripped Gravity Forms’ default stylesheet to prevent override conflicts.
Referral Program Page — Mosquito Corp offers $50 off when customers refer a friend. We built a dedicated referral page with its own template, a custom Gravity Form that collects both the referrer and the friend’s information, and automatic email notifications to both parties on submission.
Footer Built to Convert — The footer isn’t just a copyright line. It includes a full-width contact form (hidden on the contact page), a guarantee section, a $50 referral promo block, a four-column footer with a live services loop, call/text dropdown, address, social links, and the 914Digital credit.
Privacy Policy & Terms of Service — With SMS marketing becoming a standard part of pest control business, we built fully custom Privacy Policy and Terms of Service pages that include proper SMS consent language, opt-out instructions, and data handling disclosures. These aren’t afterthoughts — they’re essential for compliance.
Introducing 914Chat — Our AI Lead Generation Plugin
Every 914Digital build now includes our proprietary plugin: 914Chat.
914Chat is a WordPress AI chat widget built and maintained by 914Digital. It connects directly to Claude AI to provide intelligent, context-aware responses to visitors — and it’s built specifically around lead generation.
Here’s what makes it different from generic chat widgets:
- Email gate on open — Before a visitor can chat, they’re asked for their email address. That email is captured immediately, before a single message is sent. Even if the visitor abandons the chat, the lead is recorded.
- Page-aware prompts — 914Chat can be configured with quick-access prompts and page links so visitors can navigate to key services or ask common questions without typing.
- Voice input — Visitors can speak their questions directly into the chat, lowering the friction barrier on mobile.
- Fully branded — The chat widget color, button style, welcome message, and powered-by branding are all configurable. Premium clients can white-label it entirely.
- Conversation logging — Every chat is logged so the business can review what visitors are asking — invaluable for understanding objections, refining messaging, and improving the site over time.
